Description
From the upcoming book, 'Hosts of the Seen and the Unseen' by Shirin Sabri, and the story, 'Dry in the Sea'. The Governor of Tihran, favourite son of the Shah of Persia, in order to win the good pleasure of his father, had three of the best known Baha'i teachers in his region imprisoned. He listened to them, was amused by their explanations, and provoked them into defending their beliefs. When the Shah heard of this he wished to see one of the captives, and organized for this man, Haji Akhund, to be seated in chains in his palace while he observed him from the safety of an upper window. He was so impressed by his calm demeanour, that he asked the court photographer to take this photo.
